Matt DeBergalis cofounder the Meteor project and Meteor Development Group. Before Meteor, Matt founded and ran ActBlue, the largest political fundraising platform in the world. ActBlue has raised more than a quarter of a billion dollars for candidates and organizations. Matt continues to serve as the chairman of ActBlue's board. His earlier technical credits include work on the NFSv4 and DAFS specifications while at Network Appliance, and contributions to the NetBSD kernel. Matt holds master's and bachelor's degrees from MIT.

What a year! From ES2015, to React and Angular 2.0, to Docker and container orchestration, new technologies are changing the shape of a modern JavaScript app. Using these and others, it's possible to shed the historical baggage of web frameworks and build a "connected client" app: a modern app written in pure JS that runs everywhere: phone, browser, and cloud. We'll look at what it takes to make the clean break from a traditional web architecture, dig into the essential design patterns for connected clients, and peek ahead to the next batch of exciting technologies just now emerging.
