For more than a dozen years, Jen Kramer has been educating clients, colleagues, friends and graduate students about the meaning of a "quality website."

Jen develops sites that are functional, usable, accessible, and supportive of business and marketing goals. Since 2000, she has built websites in a freelance capacity and as part of an agency.

Jen is a lynda.com author with fourteen published titles, including the popular "Bootstrap: Adding Interactivity To Your Site", "Responsive Design with Joomla!", and "Up and Running with Bootstrap".

She has written two books published by Wrox Press (a division of Wiley), "Joomla! Start to Finish: How to Plan, Execute, and Maintain Your Web Site" and "Joomla 24-Hour Trainer."

Jen currently offers in-person and online courses through Harvard Extension School, Community College of Vermont, Center for Digital Imaging Arts at Boston University, and National University. She is also available for individual private tutoring, customized classroom training, and consulting.

Jen earned a BS in biology at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MS in Internet Strategy Management at the Marlboro College Graduate School.

Jen Kramer will address these questions and then compare Bootstrap and Foundation, so you'll have a sense of what might work best for your next responsive design project.

Bootstrap, an open source front-end framework, is one of the hottest front-end frameworks for building responsive websites. Follow along and learn how to build a Bootstrap-based website from scratch, incorporating the responsive grid system, see the basic CSS in action, incorporate Javascript-based components, and customize CSS using LESS.

  • Downloading Bootstrap and incorporating it into an HTML document
  • Working with the Bootstrap responsive grid system
  • Exploring Bootstrap’s core CSS, overriding this CSS using standard CSS techniques

  • Creating and styling interactive menus with Bootstrap, including dropdown menus
